How To Make DIY Recipe Cards

Step by step instructions and template to make your own recipe cards.

G’day guys, It’s Imo here from Al and Imo Handmade and today I am going to show you how to make these simple DIY recipe cards. I’m planning on gifting these as part of our Christmas presents and starting a tradition of adding new recipes each year.

I absolutely love to cook, nothing makes me happier than ending the day and cooking a beautiful meal with my husband Al. This is a collection of our go-to meals of the year, recipes we've had passed on to us and some that over time we have tweaked from recipe books.

For this project you’ll need your favourite recipes, photos if you wish to add those in and a free Canva account. I’ve created the template and all you have to do is drag and drop your content in. You can access the template for this project here.

This is a really simple gift idea that is creative and from the heart.

Step 1.

The first thing you need to do is follow the link. It’ll prompt you to make a free account with Canva if you don’t already have one. From there you can edit the template by uploading your own images, drop and dragging them into the template and changing the text to your own.

You can duplicate pages and add more recipes or delete pages if you wish. Just keep in mind I designed it so each card will be printed double-sided.

Step 2.

Once you are happy with your design, head to the top right corner and hit the download dropdown. Select PDF Print and check the box that says crop marks and bleed.

Step 3.

I put my file on a USB and took it to Officeworks to print. I decided to print my cards on a thick 300gsm paper stock. Because I was in a hurry I took one copy home to film this project and cut the cards myself. However I paid a little extra to have the other copies cut for me and I'll pick those up next week.

Step 4.

I bought some craft card envelopes to put my recipe cards in and stamped the front with our logo - but I love the idea that you could customise these for the special people you plan to gift them to.

Step 5.

And that’s it guys, a super simple and cost effective DIY project that is a great adult stocking stuffer!
