Creating Family Traditions

Last weekend we put up our Christmas tree and it felt like the start of a new family tradition. Going out and picking the tree, pulling out the decorations, decorating and turning on the lights. It got us thinking about how important it is to create traditions and rituals as a family.

At this stage we have a ritual of greeting Goldie in her cot after each nap with a big smile on our face and an excited “Hello my little love, did you have a good sleep?” We have our morning coffee and cuddles in bed and Friday night movie nights… which I’m sure Goldie appreciate more when she’s old enough to be out of bed.

Family rituals give you and your children a sense of security, identity and belonging. That’s because they’re special things that you do together and they have special meaning for you. They create shared memories, and build family relationships and bonds.
RAISING CHILDREN

We recently were able to introduce Goldie to a friend of ours and she mentioned that although we haven’t been able to see each other she’s enjoyed watching us document our journey entering into parenthood. It made me realise the value in documenting these moments as they happen… digitally but physically too and i’ve started to collect photos to print and will create an album.

Here’s to creating magic in the little moments and forming special family traditions & rituals for years to come.
